Besides the blizzard in almost-April that made us 30 minutes late for our appointment, we still were able to be seen.
They waited for us. First step was counseling to talk about the possible findings during todays Nuchal scan. Basically they look for Trisomy and Down's. Then discuss our family backgrounds and historys to determine our risk. This is done by a ULS and bloodwork.
After that meeting, we were sent into the ULS room (not nearly as nice as our previous visits-why must healthcare providers be so rude?) She measured my ovaries which are still stimulated and large and then the tissues. She finally got to baby lucky!
When we saw him tears just poured! He had little legs and hands and the cutest nose! I kept pointing out all his body parts! I am in love! She let us listen to his heartbeat (152) and see the waves of it. Then she measured the space under his head and the wait began.
Twenty minutes before the Dr came in. What did they find??? I was so nervous. The Dr had terrible bedside manner and after five minutes of staring at Lucky's head, he said all was well. He was measuring only 24 hours small. (not a big deal at all!) Also, that no other findings of fluid were noted. Oh thank you God for looking out for our baby!!!! We wait on the bloodwork results next, but our prayers are staying positive that he is all nestled in there! I think he may be smaller because I am so small. I have barely gained weight (trust me I can eat!) and my belly looks smaller this week. I was the smallest (first trimester) woman in the entire waiting room...I hope I can catch up to make Lucky the healthiest baby ever!
At one point she needed a better picture of him, and he was sleeping. So she started bouncing the wand on my belly. (yes, full bladder thank you). Finally Lucky lifts his head and starts kicking his legs, flopping his arms and rolling over ! You should have seen it! He was so bouncy! I cried again!
I am so in love with this little baby. I cannot wait to wrap my arms around him and kiss that soft skin. Tomorrow we meet with our midwife to hear the heartbeat and get an update on our progress.
Matt and I had a great lunch together and then a perfect nap to end the day.
Enjoy the pictures, I know I cannot stop staring at them!!
Much love
Melanie, Matt and Lucky!!!!
