While I normally get Braxton's, last night presented me with a whole new experience in preparation for real labor (okay, I admit, about 60% of me thought I was in real labor). Here's the story.
I got home from a full day out of visiting G and her beautiful twin boys and doing some errands such as an entire grocery shopping trip (yes, I know, I'm crazy). I carried the bags up the stairs when I got home and within minutes started having Braxton's. (no big deal, like I said, I get these a lot). However, after about 30 minutes and realizing that they just kept coming, I decided to start timing them. During the 'off contraction' moments, I could function normally and made dinner, ate it and got up and about. But when they struck, they winded me. Back ache, belly disfigurement, muscle pain, pelvic pain, short of breath.....This went on for a good 3 hours before we decided to call the midwife. Upon her call back, we would make the decision to roll out the tub, keep Matt home for the night and prepare to take a 'sleep/pain potion' to get me to sleep through early labor to conserve my strength.
Midwife finally called back and we talked about what to do. She said it sounds like we are progressing, but not necessarily in full blown labor. She suggested the usual: hot shower, tea, sleep and early bedtime, heat/cold packs...all of which I already began. The pain lasted through the night up until around 11:30p and then it faded out. So, that was our first false alarm.
No idea what it means, if we will go tonight or very soon? or if we will hold out another 2 weeks! All I know, is that I would adore an October baby, and we are ALMOST there! If I make it through today....then I get my wish :)
Enjoy pictures from our maternity shoot (on week 38), they came out so amazing and I cannot thank Chris and his wife Lisa enough for making this happen.
I'll update as much as I can! It's not long now!
