As we near our 34th week tomorrow I can only reflect on how far we have come and how far we still seem to have to go.
This week was beyond busy for me with work, as I round out the last of my working days. It is getting pretty painful to drive long distances and one day I almost passed out enroute to work. Luckily, I was still close to home, I turned around and drove home! Seems that the weight of the baby on my bloodpressure was just not having it.
On the good news front: I am still feeling good (as good as a large bellied gal can feel!) My appetite is minimal so forcing myself to eat more than usual is becoming hard. TUMS have become a nice pre-bed snack (thanks to heartburn) and the itch for naps is getting real.
I have mostly everything ready for our homebirth. I picked up the last of the items I needed including glorious witch hazel, tucks pads and a plastic shower curtain. Too much info? You are probably wondering what that is for...well, the shower curtain is to protect our mattress in case baby boy kicks his water bag open while I'm asleep, the tucks and witch hazel is for a soothing 'sundae' after baby boy arrives. Yes, a sundae for my bottom half. (awkward, yup)
I picked up some markers today to start drawing my 'cue' cards for labor, and can't wait until Matt wakes up from his sleep so he can start making his. These cards will be used during labor to signal things we both need, without having to ask. Simple reminders to "relax", or "I need to be alone", "please let me take a nap!" and anything else to help us when we are in active labor, transition and during surges. It actually sounds like fun to do, so we'll see!
We got the carseat all placed into my Jeep and it actually fits! (yes, a 2 seat jeep accommodates a newborn carseat...thank goodness!) It is the Mico AP carseat and yes, I will post pics when I can. For now, I am in desperate need of a nap and to lay down.
Hopefully we can do belly pics soon. I've been slacking. :)
